Have you ever wanted to walk among art? Hundreds of artists from all over will be decorating Mt. Pleasant with color and creativity from August 1-25, 2012 during Art Walk Central.
That’s right – our ENTIRE community will become an art gallery! From the award winning Ziibiwing Center Museum to businesses and parks in downtown Mt. Pleasant, art work will be on display for you to feast your eyes on.
We’ll need YOU to help determine the People’s Choice winner of this competition. Bring your imagination and curiosity to vote from your phone or computer – one is as good as the other! Winners for both Youth and Adult categories will be announced on August 22, 2012.

We've had incredible interest in Art Walk Central and I couldn't be happier! It's been fun to see the excitement grow around town. When Michelle Sponseller and I visited ArtPrize in 2010, we looked at each other and agreed instantaneously that the idea of a city wide art exhibit/competition was a GREAT idea! A year later, we had formed a committee to create an event in Mt. Pleasant that is modeled after ArtPrize. We lined up our ducks to start asking for funding and are thrilled that we had enough success to offer $22,000 in prize money. No, it's not $250,000 like in Grand Rapids, but it is a large enough pot that we're sure to get some great art entries! I love my job - and I love working with a business community that has embraced the idea of Art Walk Central and is willing to participate even though this is unknown territory for them. This is an exciting time for all of us who are working on this event. Thank you to all who are willing to take this leap of faith with us! Kathy Hill
