HOSTING AND VENUE UPDATES

Artists and Venues: Please note that “matching” is to be completed by FRIDAY, MAY 11, so please get your requests and approvals or denials taken care of. REQUESTS AND ACCEPTANCES MUST ALL TAKE PLACE VIA YOUR PROFILE FROM WWW.ARTWALKCENTRAL.COM

Artists: You need to upload photos of your artwork or at least a thorough description. Venues need to know this information when they make their decision as to whose work to host.

Instructions for Host Requesting and Acceptance:

  1. Go to www.artwalkcentral.com.
  2. Click on the Yellow “Log In” button on the left side of the screen.
  3. Enter your username and password that you signed up with
  4. Congratulations! You have successfully accessed your Profile.
  5. Choose a venue that you’re interested in, via the Venues button on the top of your page. Click on their name. This will take you to their profile page and on that page is a RED “Send Hosting Request” button. If you want them to host your work, click on this button. If you want to send an additional note, fill in the text box above it BEFORE you click the red button.
  6. THE VENUE WILL NOW RECEIVE AN EMAIL INDICATING YOUR INTEREST.

  7. Venues: Access your profile as in 1, 2 and 3 above.
  8. Click on the “Artist Notifications” button on the top of your screen
  9. Click on either “Accept” or “Deny” for all artists
  10. ARTISTS WILL NOW RECEIVE AN EMAIL INDICATING YOUR ACCEPTANCE OR DENIAL.

  11. Artists: If the venue has accepted your request, you need to click “I agree” and the match is made. The venue name should appear beneath your name on the Art Walk Central website. Congratulations!
  12. If the venue has denied your request, then explore other venues and send requests to them.

Have you ever wanted to walk among art? Hundreds of artists from all over will be decorating Mt. Pleasant with color and creativity from August 1-25, 2012 during Art Walk Central.

That’s right – our ENTIRE community will become an art gallery! From the award winning Ziibiwing Center Museum to businesses and parks in downtown Mt. Pleasant, art work will be on display for you to feast your eyes on.

We’ll need YOU to help determine the People’s Choice winner of this competition. Bring your imagination and curiosity to vote from your phone or computer – one is as good as the other! Winners for both Youth and Adult categories will be announced on August 22, 2012.

Plein Air Event during Art Walk CentralMay 4, 2012

Heads up to Artists:  We will be sponsoring a Plein Air Workshop and Event on August 10, 11 and 12.  Details to follow.  Instructor will be Rex Tower, who is a certified Pleain Air Instructor.  Hope you can join us for this fun event!

Are YOU entering Art Walk Central?February 9, 2012

We've had incredible interest in Art Walk Central and I couldn't be happier! It's been fun to see the excitement grow around town.  

Below is some basic info for people who might be interested in entering a piece of art work in this competition.  Further details will be posted on this website in early March.  Thanks for your interest!  As always, feel free to call Art Reach at 989.773.3689 with specific questions.  

  • The event runs from August 1 - 25, 2012 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan 
  • There will be two categories of artist entries:  Youth (age 12-17) and adult (age 18 and over).  Your age is determined as of the day you enter the contest
  • A total of $22,000 will be awarded in prizes.  Prizes will be given in each category (youth and adult) for People's Choice and Best Juried Piece.  Prizes are $10,000 each for adults and $1,000 each for youth.
  • Venues are registering NOW.  That ends on March 30
  • Artist registration runs from April 2 thru April 30.  Register at www.artwalkcentral.com
  • Artists will be responsible for contacting venues to secure exhibition space
  • There is a $30 registration fee
  • Best Juried Piece awards will be determined by independent judges
