Artist Statement
My paintings are part of an ever growing series called Industry. This series focuses on the connection between man and machine in a world consumed by industries. Each piece is an abstract and cubistic view on reality. This series poses the question, "In a world of industry do we recognize humanity?"

Information About The Art
Art Title: Almost Home
Art Description: Mount pleasant Michigan has been a staple in my life for many years. Growing up south of Mount Pleasant, in the small town of Alma, there was not always much to do. Hoping on the highway to Mt. Pleasant with family and friends was always a fun trip and our memories there I will always cherish. This piece shows the unique parts of Mt. Pleasant that have influenced who I am today, as well as others who have had the opportunity to experience the wonders of the town. Painted in this piece are the many locations I have fond memories of throughout my life. Dividing the piece in half is the Chippewa River illustrating the beauty and community that is evident during the hot summer days there. Splitting the piece into quadrants is US 127, a familiar highway. The first corner depicts several buildings down Broadway and Main St., including The Art Reach center where my mom worked, Max and Emily’s with my all time favorite cheesecake, and The Bird that includes the best stories. Adjacent from that are oil rigs to represent the ones that can be seen off the highway, as well as the Mount Pleasant Oilers. Along with those is the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort where I shared my first rock concert with a good friend. Below the first corner is Central Michigan University. Painted is the CMU Indoor Athletic Complex, where I had my first indoor pole vault meets in high school, as well as the archway welcoming CMU students and alumni, including my mom who graduated with her masters when I was a baby back in 1999. In the final corner are two buildings. The first building is Intricate Decor, where my sister and I received our first tattoos and many others. The big building next to that is McLaren Hospital, where I was born. My goal of the piece is to highlight the beauty of the community that is ever so present in Mount Pleasant. Each of these different places have contributed to who and where I am today. They are what I see as staples of Mount Pleasant and my experiences there.
